Welcome to Roosevelt Judo!

The Roosevelt High School Judo club is dedicated to having fun and furthering the Olympic sport of Judo in Seattle.

Mr Masaoka, who holds a brown belt in Judo and has studied in other martial arts like Kendo and Tai Chi, is the club advisor.

Judo Practice

The RHS Judo club members practice in the evenings at the two great judo clubs in the Seattle area.  Roosevelt Judo club members compete in sanctioned Judo matches throughout the year, including the Pacific Northwest High School championships held each year in May. The championships are WIAA sanctioned and bring togetherJunior and Senior high school judo clubs from around the northwest.

2009 Washington Games Medal Presentation
 The Budokan Judo club puts on a great tournament every year and 2009 was no exception.  A great time was had by all.
The RHS judo club came home with a gold and a silver medal.

2009 PNW High School Judo championships

Calvin Olds, a RHS freshman won a gold medal in the 66Kg Junior High division at the 2009 PNW high school Judo champtionsip, held May 9th at Kentridge High. Roosevelt earned 7th place overall in the team competion.

Seattle doJO

 The Seattle Judo Dojo.  Beginers are welcome. Practices are Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm.   Monday's focus in on mat work and Thursday's is on throwing. The cost is $20 per month for high school students. The Seattle Judo Dojo is the oldest in the US and welcomes new students anytime. more...
